Outlander episode Both Sides Now aired on 9/27/14 on Starz
Synopsis: In 1945, Frank is still seeking for Claire, but is starting to lose hope of ever finding her. Meanwhile in 1743, Claire is trying to come to terms with her marriage to Jamie. While traveling a life changing opportunity arises
Let’s talk about Frank, shall we…
A few too many flashbacks of Frank in my humble opinion . We get it already!!! His life is miserable without Claire and he’s going nuts trying to find her. I’m sure any good husband would do just exactly what he is doing, hunting frantically for her. I know my hubby would be doing the same as I would for him.
I guess I should give poor Frank a break but as a fans of the books we all know the the best parts of the story are with Jamie and Claire not Frank and Claire. Although this makes the TV series a little more meat really. You know, the love triangle thing. Seems a lot of shows have that going on these days.
I did like that the one flashback we got to see some of Frank’s mad skills that he used while in MI-6 something that’s barely touched on in the books. He showed those con artists who was boss but we also saw how closely he really is related to Black Jack Randall. That sadistic gene still runs though Frank’s veins. It’s just buried deep down but I’m afraid that it could rear it’s ugly head at anytime especially with his military training. Plus it just goes to show what a person can do in the heat of the moment.
It was really sweet to see wee Roger in one of the flashbacks stealing a biscuit from Mrs. Graham. I for one can’t wait to see him all grown up next season. I wonder who they will cast for him. I guess we’ll all be on Roger watch along with other new cast members over the coming months.
I also liked the way they did the flashback where Frank was going to Craig Na Dun at the same time Claire was stumbled upon them and how it was like they could almost hear each other. Although I do think they stretched it out just a bit too long.
Speaking of stretching things out….I hope to Gawd they don’t make us wait until April 2016 for the beginning of season 2 but I have this sneaking suspicion that they will. Gonna be a VERRA long and dry spell without Outlander. 🙁
