Fans in the US are facing the prospect of losing their favourite show as a major cable provider threatens to axe its coverage. Now stars and production staff from Outlander are joining in a new campaign to help save it
Based on Diana Gabaldon’s book series, the Starz show is watched by millions with a fans.
But one US cable provider – Optimum – is threatening to pull the plug on the show and a host of other Starz programmes amidst a contract dispute.

What is Optimum?
Optimum is one of the US’s top cable providers.
The company started serving customers in the Long Island area of the country but has since grown.
It provides a host of HD channels and free-on-demand options to its customers.
Why will Outlander be taken off the air?
Negotiations between Starz, who show Outlander, and European based satellite network Altice have stalled.
The two companies had an agreement over distribution which expires at midnight on New Year’s Eve.
It’s understood that Starz advertised in the US media that viewers could face a possible blackout as a result of the stalled negotiations.
Outlander won’t be the only show that’s affected if a new deal isn’t reached.
