This is a real creation story of the Mohawk people. The First Nations actors had to memorize all of their Mohawk dialogue phonetically as none of them were actually speakers of the Mohawk language. Not an easy task.

The title of this episode is taken from the last line of a poem called “The Lake Isle of Innisfree” by William Butler Yeats, which is quoted in the book Drums of Autumn.

An early version of this scene was shot in the middle of a blizzard and had to be reshot.

This scene and the next originally came much later in the story, but the producers decided it was important to see Roger earlier in the episode.

The burger place Claire mentions – Carmi’s – is a nod to STARZ president of programming, Carmi Zlotnik.

Led Zeppelin’s first album came out in 1969 – after Claire went back through the stones and before Brianna came after her. The album reached number 10 on the Billboard chart and contains the hit songs “Good Times Bad Times” and “Dazed and Confused.”

The idea for this dream came late in the writing process. In part it was a callback to Jamie’s nightmares in Season Two

During the story-breaking process, the writers called this scene the one where “all cats come out of all bags.”

To give Caleb two severed fingers, the production team fitted the actor with green “finger gloves” that could later be removed using CGI.

Much of this sequence was filmed at a Land Rover Experience track in Scotland. Only the slow motion scenes of Roger running were filmed elsewhere.

Luke Schelhaas wrote this sequence in his mother and father-in-law’s spare bedroom in Sun City, AZ, looking out the window at cacti and roadrunners.
