Welcome to Scotland from the Roadside, a weekly gallery showcasing some of the best images from around the country taken by you.
From opportune moments shot on smartphones to breathtaking landscapes captured in high definition, each week we share a selection of interesting pictures taken by people on their travels around Scotland.
We have partnered up with the Scotland from the Roadside Facebook group, a popular destination for trading photos and stories, which has drawn in more than 100,000 members.
Each week, we ask the page’s creators, Bruce Philip and Linda Curran, to select their favourite images shared on the page over the past seven days.
Bruce and Linda are having a well deserved break and we’ve taken over the reins to pick our top pictures as Scotland prepares to welcome in a brand new year.
Take a look at some of the incredible shots we’ve found from across the country.
Winter sun by Gav Crozier
“This picture was taken on a visit down to Elgol on The Isle of Skye back in August,” says Gav.
“I visit the Isle of Skye as often as I can as it’s an amazing place. Stopping in a holiday let near Elgol meant I could wander down to one of my favourite locations for photography as the area and views take my breath away every time I visit.
“This photo was taken on an overcast day when you’d least expect there to be any kind of sunset, but knowing the area quite well, days like that often produce the best sunsets and I wasn’t disappointed.”
He adds: “I usually head a little further along the beach to try to capture more of the Cuillin mountains within the shot but as I was walking up to the slab of honeycomb shaped rock, a shaft of sunlight came from beneath the cloud lighting up the face of the rock in a golden light.
“I rushed to set up my camera gear to try and capture it before it disappeared.
“That’s what I like about Elgol – there’s so much opportunity to capture something special regardless of the weather conditions as it’s such an awesome place!”
