We are only a month away from the Season 4 premiere of Outlander. With Droughtlander almost at an end, Outlander star Richard Rankin opened up about the new season and how he almost had a huge wardrobe malfunction while playing Roger Mackenzie.
One of the big stories this season is Roger’s budding romance with Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) daughter, Brianna (Sophie Skelton). The show recently released photos of the pair enjoying themselves in the 1960s and 1970s, including a shot of the two attending the Highland Games in Scotland.
One of the requirements of the games, of course, is wearing a kilt, which is what caused Rankin’s embarrassing moment in front of the cameras.
In a behind-the-scenes clip, Rankin explained how the costume designers worked hard to keep his modesty intact. According to Express, the video shows Rankin joking with members of the wardrobe crew about how to best adjust his kilt without showing the world his goods.
“So, you can see my a** but not my w***y,” the actor told the crew member with a smile.
Rankin added that filing the games were one of the best parts of the new season. While he assured fans that learning the Ceilidh dance was easy, his Outlander co-star Sophie Skelton made fun of him for constantly running out of breath.
She also hilariously made fun of Rankin for never remembering his lines correctly and says she constantly has to help him out.
We do not know how far the show will take their romance in Season 4, but Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin clearly have great chemistry together. Now if Rankin can just remember his lines and avoid any wardrobe malfunctions they will be all right.
