OUTLANDER season 4 won’t be hitting screens until later this year but there’s lots of speculation and theories about the new series. One question that keeps coming up is: Will Frank Randall be returning?
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Outlander season 3 & 4
Season four of the Starz time-travelling drama is confirmed to be airing in November this year with fans set for the next chapter in Jaime (played by Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser’s (Caitriona Balfe) epic love story.
The next season has been adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s fourth novel from the Outlander book series Drums of Autumn.
Outlander will firmly move the action from Scotland to America as the star-crossed lovers finally settle in the New World.
However, there have been hints that Claire’s first husband Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies) could be back in the frame again.
As Outlander fans will remember, Frank died in season three in a car crash following a tumultuous marriage with Claire after she mysteriously returned after an absence of several years.
Will Frank Randall be in the new series of Outlander?
While Frank is technically dead and gone from Outlander, there’s no reason why the character couldn’t appear in flashbacks.
Outlander producer Maril Davis teased previously: “You might see Frank come to our shores again.”
She went on to tell The Hollywood Reporter: “In the books, there’s often flashbacks of Claire’s relationship and there are moments of Frank and Brianna’s relationship that we didn’t get to see.
“We love Tobias and I know not everyone is team Frank, but he’s so much fun to play with.”
Davis added: “So yes, we might see him again.”
Actor Menzies doesn’t seem averse to the idea of returning either.
